DAVID FOSTER - PRESIDENT
DAVID P. FOSTER
David Foster is Founder and President of Foster Remodeling Solutions, Inc. a design-and-build remodeling company in Northern Virginia. Under his innovative leadership, FRS has grown on average 10% each year business since its inception in 1983 as Foster Home Improvement, Inc.
Several of Foster's ideas stand out among the industry. Early on, Foster recognized a need for software specific to the industry and, in 1995, began developing a custom software program. In 2000, he teamed with a group of software developers to incorporate ImproveBuild LLC. Their goal was to develop and provide remodeling-specific management software to the industry. This collaboration resulted in creation of the ImproveBuild Remodeler's Business Solution (RBS) software. Foster Remodeling Solutions now uses ImproveBuild RBS in its own operations. Since its release in August 2002, may remodelers around the country have followed suit. Foster served as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of ImproveBuild, LLC. until April 2009. www.improvebuild.com
On numerous occasions, the remodeling industry has recognized Foster's achievements. In 1996-2009 Qualified Remodeler Magazine named Foster Remodeling Solutions one of the top 500 remodelers in the United States. In May 1998, Foster Remodeling Solutions received National Recognition for Teamwork in Remodeling Magazine's Big 50. Other media profiled Foster's unique operations systems and successful performance.
Early in his career, Foster studied construction management and sales. In 1992, his additional coursework resulted in receipt of the Certified Remodeler designation from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry. In addition, Foster has studied the use of personality profiling to select employees and has attended many industry-specific educational seminars and trade shows.
As part of his continuing education and assistance to the remodeling industry, Foster participates regularly in case studies on other remodeling companies throughout the country. In addition, he occasionally speaks to remodelers and suppliers at the remodelers conferences, including the Remodelers Leadership Conference. Since 2000, he has served as a business consultant to other remodelers throughout the United States.
Foster's leadership extends beyond the company into his community. In 2000, the Foundation for Applied Technical Education, Inc., a partner in the Fairfax County Public Schools construction technologies training program, appointed Foster to its Board of Directors. Foster resides in Fairfax County, Virginia, with his wife and two children and their cocker spaniel.
GREG MILLER - PRODUCTION MANAGER
Greg Miller is the Production Manager of Foster Remodeling Solutions, Inc. As a Production Manager he is responsible for managing each project through the construction process in its entirety. His objective is to assure that the project starts on time, finishes on time, and remains within budget. This is done through forward planning, communication and experience.
Greg brings 18 years of construction experience to the Production Manager position. This experience includes a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management and an Associate of Science in Architectural Technology from Northern Michigan University where he graduated with honors. He has also been involved in all facets of the construction industry including commercial, residential, and residential remodeling both domestic and international.
Greg has been a member of the Foster Remodeling team since 2006 and looks forward to working with you to complete your project.
CHRIS ARNOLD - SALES MANAGER
Chris, brings over 20 years of experience in the construction industry to the Foster team. He studied Architectural Drafting in high school and then went on to the Northern Virginia Community College. After college, Chris worked for several remodeling companies designing additions, estimating projects, creating working drawings and obtaining building permits. Additionally, he spent time in the field as a carpenter apprentice where he gained valuable hands on experience, Chris spent the next nine years with the largest distributor of Merillat Cabinets in the U.S. as Kitchen Designer, Salesman, and Branch Manager. During this time he assisted the company with their transition from a Wholesaler to a Retailer, In 2000, Chris changed direction slightly and worked for an Insurance Restoration Company as a General Manager. In 2004 a former coworker introduced Chris to David Foster and the rest is history.
HERMAN JOHNSON - ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER
Herman brings eight plus years of remodeling construction and design experience to the Foster Team. After leaving Virginia Tech, where he studied interior design, he began an apprenticeship with one of the top design build firms in the DC Metro area. While there, Herman gained a wide knowledge of not only architecture, but the many aspects of the design/build industry. Serving in the capacity as a project designer, construction manager, and chief designer, he was involved with every aspect of design, renovation, and construction of projects ranging from replacing existing kitchens and bathrooms to large scale multiple level additions. His experience with multiple design soft wares allows your vision come to life with 3D models from a simple floor plan. You will find his experience and incite extremely helpful throughout our process.
SARAH DREIST - DESIGN CONSULTANT
Sarah is a Design Consultant and licensed interior designer in the state of Virginia. She received her LEED accreditation for environmentally conscience and energy efficient design in 2004 after graduation from James Madison University with honors. She spent the next five years in Los Angeles designing commercial and residential projects for numerous high profile clients. Upon her return to the East Coast she joined the Foster Remodeling team and is looking forward to working with the clients to create a beautiful design that fits all of their needs.
CURT THORSTENSEN - DESIGN CONSULTANT
Curt has worked in the residential construction and remodeling industry for over twenty five years. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture and an MBA in marketing as well as being a licensed Interior Designer. Curt started out in the commercial and office planning field directly after graduating from the University of Illinois with his degree in Architecture. In 1982 he transitioned into the residential kitchen design and remodeling field. He has always had a passion for residential design and has remained working as a design consultant in this industry ever since.
Over the years Curt has received additional education in the field, attending many intensive kitchen and bath design seminars and training programs to keep up with the latest products and design trends. He has worked on all types and sizes of projects from replacing existing kitchens and baths to major remodeling projects of over 1,000 square feet, including new kitchens and master baths.
In addition, he worked in the high-end custom home building industry in Chicago for fifteen years. He was involved in designing the homes including kitchen and bath designs, as well as making all selections for interior and exterior finish materials with the homeowner. Curt has been involved in literally hundreds of new home and remodeling projects and his many years in the field have left him with a very comprehensive knowledge of and a passion for this industry.
His goal is to provide each homeowner with the most creative as well as practical solution to their remodeling needs and to leave them more than satisfied with their project when it is complete.
DAVE GUY - DESIGN CONSULTANT
Dave brings over fifteen years of design and construction experience to Foster Remodeling Solutions. After serving on active duty in the U.S. Air Force, Dave began his career in the residential construction industry in 1993. He possesses degrees in both Architectural Drafting and Information Systems which allow him to use the latest technology to design and estimate a wide range of projects. Dave started out working as a designer and estimator in-house for custom builders in the Chicago area and here at home in northern Virginia. Dave's eye for detail and ability to understand a client's needs have resulted in hundreds of satisfied homeowners and numerous design awards over the years. Dave also has experience as a custom builder and is well-versed in construction techniques, materials and codes. Dave looks forward to helping Foster Remodeling's clients achieve their goals of building a quality project with lasting value.
DOREEN FAWCETT - OFFICE MANAGER
Doreen is Foster Remodeling Solutions' Office Manager. She joined the Foster team in July
2006, bringing with her 15 years of administrative experience. Most recently Doreen was the Project Assistant for GHA Services Inc., a successful construction project in Arlington. Her diverse background includes four years in newspaper advertising for the Potomac News in Woodbridge and five years as an Assistant to the Director of Education with Coldwell Banker Stevens Real Estate in Tyson's Corner.
ROSS MANSFIELD - ACCOUNTANT
Born and raised in Stafford, VA. Ross graduated from Longwood College in May 1999 with a BS in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting. After working in the public accounting world for six years, Ross has made the switch to the private sector, joining the Foster team as Accountant in July 2005.

JACK RODGERS, LEAD CARPENTER
Jack was referred to David Foster by one of our trusted sub-contractors and is presently celebrating 16 years with the company. With his exceptional carpentry skills, loyalty and a strong work ethic Jack has earned his position as a member of the management team along with an ownership interest in the company. He is a Certified Lead Carpenter through NARI and holds and EPA Certified Renovator designation. The weekends are intended for spending time with his family and occasionally he enjoys his hobbies of golf, hiking and biking.
WARREN WILKINSON, LEAD CARPENTER
Warren will be celebrating 20 years of service with Foster Remodeling Solutions, in March of this year. He has earned a superb reputation with our clients and is known for his passionate work ethic and need to have every inch of his jobsite area "spic and span" during the construction process. He is certified as a Certified Lead Carpenter through NARI. Warren served in the US Army and became a Non-Commissioned Officer before getting into the remodeling profession. His free time is usually spent surfing, gardening and collecting antiques.
MIKE BORMANN, LEAD CARPENTER
Mike has 32 years of experience in the construction and residential remodeling business. With his knowledge and expertise; he has been satisfying our clients with his outstanding workmanship for 14 years. He is dedicated to successfully completing each project on time and keeping our clients within their budget. On the weekends he enjoys all outdoor nature related activities; especially hiking and kayaking.
RICHARD ROTTIER, LEAD CARPENTER
Richard brings an extensive amount of experience with him to the Production Team. He is a certified brick mason and has been in the construction field for 39 years. When he is not working; he enjoys lots of adventurous activities ranging from boxing, karate, golf, pistol range shooting and rock climbing.
BILL DENTY, LEAD CARPENTER
William brings 32 years construction experience with him. He is a certified Journeyman. Bill was born and raised in Alexandria. VA and now resides in Woodbridge VA. During his free time, he enjoys playing music and riding his Harley Davidson.
STEPHEN MURPHY, CARPENTER
Stephen comes to Foster Remodeling Solutions with 4 plus years experience in the remodeling industry. In addition he is a Certified Remodeling Carpenter through NARI. He is inspired by the variety of projects he has been involved in helping to successfully complete and looks forward to a promising and valuable future with the Production Team. In his personal time he enjoys writing and playing music.
WESLEY VITALE, CARPENTER HELPER
Wesley was recommended to David Foster by his Instructor who works with the Fate Program, which is affiliated with Fairfax County Public Schools. He is a 2009 graduate from Chantilly High School and has completed his Vocational Training Program through the Fairfax County Foundation of Applied Technical Education Program http://www.uncp.edu/soe/fate/. He is currently working part-time with the Production Team, while also enrolled at NVCC part-time. He is looking forward to excelling in the remodeling field and is working towards widening his experience and becoming more efficient as a Carpenter Helper.
MARCO REBOLLEDO, HANDYMAN
Marco has known David Foster since 1992 and has been employed by Foster Remodeling Solutions for 17 years. With Marco’s trustworthiness, skills and expertise in all phases of residential remodeling he has been chosen to be the Production Teams full-time Handyman and is looking forward to the challenge. He continues to gain the respect and loyalty of many of our clients with his exceptional workmanship and customer service; that keeps them coming back to us over and over again. Marco holds an EPA Certified Renovator designation and he has experience in concrete finishing. Born and raised in Chile; he has been a US Citizen since 1995; he resides in Lorton, VA with his wife and their child-like dog "Niko".
